ABSTRACT

A mathematical model has been studied to predict the thermal histories of slab during rough and finish rolling. To estimate temperature of the slab correctly, the heat transfer in the roller-slab interface and in the rollers has been considered. The numerical results show that the roller chilling has a significant effect on the temperature distribution in the slab. In addition, the temperature of the slab is numerically analyzed by considering the effect of emissitivity of oxide scale and lubricant film at the interface slab/roller.
