ABSTRACT

This article summarizes our recent works on the effect of magnetic fields on natural and mixed convection of liquid metal. These include the usual suppression effect and/or flow enhancement effect by Lorentz force, application of various magnetic fields for controlling the convection of molten silicon in a Czochralski crystal-growing system and Seebeck convection of liquid metal in a magnetic field.
