ABSTRACT

The transient analysis of U-tube steam generator commonly used in nuclear power plants is carried out using an Extended Implicit Continuous Eulerian (EICE) solution method. A one dimensional finite difference formulation is developed to solve mass, momentum and energy conservation equations in the primary and the secondary legs of the steam generator. An empirical two-phase slip flow model is also included in the formulation. The numerical results obtained are compared with the experimental data reported in the literature and reasonably good agreement is observed.
