ABSTRACT

Results of Particle image velocimetry and wall shear rate measurements are compared in order to analyse local hydrodynamics inside a networks of crossings mini-channels. This paper focus on the possibility of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and electrochemical measurements of the wall velocity gradient to give global and local information of the flow inside special geometries. It will give the opportunity to discuss on the optimal length and thickness of the pipes constituting the hydraulic network for mixing point of view. The effect of the interaction between the two flows impingement in the intersection is also point out. The effect of the Reynolds number of the flow structure is shown. This study could be used to increase the knowledge of the fluid mechanic inside small heat or mass exchangers, mixers, chemical or biological microreactors.
