ABSTRACT

A two-dimensional numerical study of the interaction between laminar natural convection and surface radiation in a differentially heated partitioned square enclosure is considered. In analysing this geometry, the partitions are assumed to be very thin. A systematic parametric study is carried out for a range of parameters such as wall temperatures, Rayleigh numbers, partition materials, and surface emissivity values usually encountered in practical applications. Results indicate that both natural convection and surface radiation effects play a significant role in the determination of the heat transfer characteristics within the enclosure.
