ABSTRACT

Three aspects of the heat and mass transfer in the absorbers of absorption cooling systems are presented in this paper. The coupled model is developed in terms of two driving potentials for the heat and mass transfer processes. Its predictions are compared with those of a numerical simulation model. This simplified model is used to extract transfer coefficients from experimental data and to compute the effectiveness of the absorber. A novel film-inverting technique that improves the performance of the absorber is described.
