ABSTRACT

The radiation element method by ray emission model, REM2, is applied to plane parallel and anisotropic scattering participating media using the delta function approximation. Gas absorption is taken into account by using statistical narrow-band parameters. The proposed method, REM2, can be applied to arbitrary thermal conditions in radiation elements and at boundary surfaces. The boundary surfaces can be specular and/or diffuse. Both collimated and diffuse incident irradiation can be applied at a boundary surface. The proposed method is applied for a modeled fog consisting of participating water droplets and humid air layers with a specular boundary surface subjected to an oblique collimated flux. The radiative transfer in a modeled fog subjected to collimated solar irradiation is analyzed. The effects of the incident angle of solar flux, infrared radiation and water vapor absorption on the transmitted heat flux are investigated.
