ABSTRACT

The separation of two organic pollutant, phenol and acetic acid, as different mixtures in a wastewater is possible due to their different permeation rate through the permselective organic barriers of a double emulsion AIII/UII/AI (wastewater phase/organic phase/aqueous receiving phase). The factors that influenced the mass transfer through the organic phase had been studied: the amount of receiving agent in the internal phase and the hydrodynamic conditions (intensity and time of hydrodynamic regime) that provide the double emulsion. The process efficiencies had been studied as function of working conditions. The working range regarding the separation extent of the two pollutant species : acetic acid in wastewater phase and phenol in the receiving phase - had been set up.
