M. B. Bush N. Phan-Thien R. I. Tanner ABSTRACT Some applications of the boundary element method to linear and nonlinear viscous flow problems are reviewed. We conclude that the method is useful in (1) linear problems; creeping and Oseen flows; (2) medium to high Reynolds number flows; and (3) flows with nonlinear material (or rheological) properties. Finally, we note that external flows and flows with free surfaces are often treated very economically using the boundary element method. 227-255 pages |
