ABSTRACT

Research and development of micro/miniature heat pipes has advanced significantly in recent years. The advances in determining heat transfer limitations of micro/miniature heat pipes, including the vapor continuum limit, boiling limit and capillary limit, are reviewed first. Thermal analysis and experimental investigations of various micro/miniature heat pipes, including micro heat pipes with polygonal cross-section, flat miniature heat pipes, and rotating miniature heat pipes, and miniature heat sinks, are surveyed. Finally, advances and challenges in manufacturing and charging of micro heat pipes are also demonstrated.
