ABSTRACT

The problem of complex recovery of the waste heat from melting furnaces is very important from the natural gas saving and environment protection points of view. One of possible solutions to this problem is a shaft melting furnace with a bath for melting material, equipped with a preheater having a “perforated” layer of a raw material, transpiration-type heat insulation and a fuel reforming system. To analyze the processes in these systems, calculations of local characteristics were performed. For the heater with a “perforated” layer of a raw material calculations used a two-dimensional model on Navier - Stokes and energy equations. The results are: the time required for the layer temperature to achieve stationary mode, the temperature field in the layer and the data on the average material and flue gases temperatures at various periods of time. As we are to solve the problem using direct blowing, when it is possible to have separate zones, a comparative analysis of several variants of turbulent models with the test data was performed. A mathematical model of thermochemical recuperator reaction element was created and on its basis local characteristics of process of the steam-gas mixture reforming were found.
