ABSTRACT

Analytical study on the momentum transfer in the turbulent film falling down a vertical surface has been performed. Equation for the calculation of average thickness at the initial length of turbulent film flow was established. The entrance region length of gravity film flow with respect to relative film velocity has been determined. Theoretical data were compared to the previously obtained experimental results. Experimental research on heat transfer in the thermal entrance region of liquid film flow was carried out as well. The experiments have been performed with transformer oil film flowing down a vertical surface of small diameter stainless tube. The investigations were provided in presence and in absence of isothermal section of the tested tube. A consideration to the heat transfer analogy between the film flow on tube surface and plane film flow is given in the paper. The results of theoretical calculations were compared to the results of the experimental research.
