ABSTRACT

The effect of non-equilibrium condensation on supersonic internal flows around the cavity with the pressure oscillation was studied numerically for the flow Mach number 1.83 at the cavity entrance. Cavities with length L to depth D ratios L/D = 1.0 and 3.0 were investigated for that purpose. The occurrence of the non-equilibrium condensation helped to alter the oscillating shear layer in a favourable way so that the amplitude of cavity induced pressure oscillations reduced effectively. The results also showed that the effect of non-equilibrium condensation on the cavity flowfield with L/D = 1.0 is stronger than that of the cavity with L/D = 3.0.
