ABSTRACT

Recently, in thermal design which has become complicated, it is important to estimate the thermal contact resistance correctly. In the present study, the application of a photo-acoustic method, which is one of the non-contact and non-destructive methods for the thermal properties of various materials, to the measurement of the thermal contact resistance between solids was examined experimentally. As a result, it was turn out to be able to understand the thermal contact resistance based on the data of maximum phase lag of the photo-acoustic signal to the modulated irradiation light. Compared with the measured result by a steady-state method, a similar tendency was recognized, and the thermal contact resistance of the same order could be obtained quantitatively.
